Underground pipelines are exposed particularly to subsoil corrosion. Even though these metal structures are protected through insulation and cathodic treatment, perforation is observed on the oxidizing parts in time.
Following cathodic voltage of the pipes with hundreds of kilometres length is difficult and time consuming. Access to the pipelines for the performance of manual measurements may be impossible especially in crowded cities.
Determination of corrosion inside a pipe is particularly difficult with conventional methods. A measurement which is performed at any time may not provide clear and coherent information about the efficiency of protection because pipelines are exposed to different environmental effects in time and the efficiency of protection varies according to these effects. For this reason, it is required to perform a periodical measurement at sufficient intervals.
While an operator conventionally can examine a location for once, status parameters related to all sections of the pipeline can be obtained thanks to such a system at least once every 30 minutes without the need to appoint a technician for the site.
System performs cycles of corrosion analytics and real-time monitoring on underground pipelines, even if the pipelines are generally located at places where there is limited communication network or power infrastructure.

COMPONENTS

Site units consist of tamper proof components for measurement, mobile connectivity and analytics installed at multiple points of the pipeline. They create current mapping of the pipeline, create an analysis of voltage gradients to ensure cathodic protection efficiency.
Site components assure that required parameters are constantly measured, verified, logged without compromising on accuracy and precision goals; relevant data are accumulated; time stamped. With flexible alarm rules units support anomaly monitoring.
DC measurements are performed on flexible schedules where cathodic protection voltage is applied. The measurement error range of the device is maximum 1%.
It is also possible to measure inducted AC on the pipelines, close to places like power transmission lines, which may also cause pipeline degradation. The site-unit alarms analysing the data to ensure that the authorized personnel take precautions in a timely manner.

Control center stores historical data, reports data and analytics results and enables remote configuration of site-units.
